Therapy That Goes Beyond the Couch

Mind. Body. Movement.

Therapy for women that brings together conversation, fitness and strength training, and walk-and-talk therapy.

What if Therapy Didn't Always Mean Sitting Still?

Therapy doesn't always have to happen sitting across from each other.

Sometimes we walk,

sometimes we move, and

sometimes we work with strength training.

Why Movement Became Part of My Work.

Sometimes you want to work on yourself

And move your body.

I love the science behind movement: understanding technique, figuring out why something works, and seeing what happens when someone starts to feel stronger and more capable. But what really interests me is what happens beyond the physical.

Because when we're moving, there's usually a lot more going on than the movement itself.

That's what I'm interested in.

Sometimes we're walking. Sometimes we're lifting. Sometimes we're trying something new.

Therapy doesn't have to look one way.

How This Can Look.

Therapy can take different forms depending on what feels right for you.

Fitness & Strength Training

Fitness and strength training can be part of how we do therapy. Whether you're experienced in the gym or picking up your first dumbbell. Sessions take place in a private studio, offering a comfortable and personal setting to move, talk, and explore what you're working through.

Walk-and-Talk Therapy

Sometimes a change of scenery can change how a conversation feels. Walking gives us another way to talk, notice, reflect, and experience what's happening as we go. Sessions take place along Calgary pathways and parks when weather allows, with indoor options available when it doesn't.

Farah's Story

1

Meet Farah

Farah has been navigating difficult experiences within her family, along with the impact of things she's been through in the past.

Lately, she's been feeling overwhelmed and disconnected from herself. She knows she wants something to change, but sitting across from someone for another hour talking about it doesn't quite feel like what she needs.

2

Therapy That Goes Beyond The Couch

With Farah, therapy doesn't follow a set format. Some sessions take place while walking, and others take place in a private studio where we work through strength-training exercises together.

Some days there is a lot to talk about. Other days, the conversation unfolds while she's moving.

There are also days when something unexpected comes up, something she hadn't planned to talk about or hadn't realized was on her mind. The session can make room for that, too.

3

Movement Is Healing

Farah doesn't have to choose between talking and moving. Both can be part of the work.

Sometimes putting something into words is what she needs.

Sometimes walking helps her stay with a difficult conversation. Sometimes strength training gives her something concrete to work with in the moment.

The session can meet her where she is, rather than asking her to fit every experience into the same format. Instead of only talking about change, Farah gets to experience it.

Let's talk about what you're looking for and see if this feels like a good fit.

What Brings You Here.

You might be looking for a space to slow down, make sense of what's going on, or explore something that has been on your mind.

Maybe you want to talk. Maybe you want to move. Maybe you want some combination of the two.

There isn't one right way to begin.

I’m someone who genuinely loves both sides of this work. I love being a therapist, the complexity of people, relationships, and the stories we carry. And I love fitness and strength training, the learning, the challenge, the problem solving, and the satisfaction of getting stronger.

My clinical background has given me a strong foundation in therapy and in working with people through difficult experiences and life changes. My training and experience in fitness and strength training have given me another way of understanding movement, the body, and what it means to work toward something.

Bringing those parts of myself together has shaped how I work and how I practice today.
